Library Committee

Our Charge and Responsibilities

The Library Committee shall be responsible for advising the University Administration on library affairs, serving in an advisory capacity to the University Library administration, acting as a liaison between the Library and faculty, and providing a faculty perspective on Library budgetary matters. Example agenda items include topics, such as: discussion and policy recommendations for Article Processing Fees that authors must pay to have their scholarly articles published in open-access journals; strategies for how the library can support access to materials to meet the implementation of the web accessibility standards (April 2026); and updates about affordable course materials and strategies for faculty.

Leadership Structure

Election Schedule for Chair: The committee [council] shall elect a chair(s) from among its voting members at the first possible meeting of a new majority, usually at the first meeting of fall term. In situations where the chair from the prior year is still a member of the committee, that person remains the chair until a new chair is elected.
