Membership Requirements
General Membership
Membership of the Undergraduate Council is fixed:
- 1 faculty member from College of Design
- 1 faculty member from College of Business
- 1 faculty member from College of Education
- 1 faculty member from SOJC
- 1 faculty member from School of Music & Dance
- 1 faculty member from Honors College
- 1 faculty member from Law School
- College of Arts & Sciences - 6 total, no 2 from the same department, at least 1 from each division:
- Humanities
- Natural Sciences
- Social Sciences
- 4 students (no more than two from the same school or college)
Ex-Officio, voting members
- Chair of UO Committee on Courses or their designee
Ex-Officio, non-voting members
- Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies or their designee
- University Registrar or their designee
- Representative from Office of Academic Affairs or their designee
- Director of Academic Advising or their designee
- Director or Teaching Effectiveness Program or their designee
- Representative from UO Libraries
Terms and Workload
Length of Term
- Non-Student: 3 years, staggered
- Students: 1 year
- Ex Officio: indefinite
Term Limits
- For the Chair: 2 consecutive terms
- For committee members: 2 consecutive terms is recommended, but not required
- Ex Officio: none
Term limits to be considered a guideline, rather than a rule.
Workload Designation
- For the Chair: approx 70 hours/year or more. The chair (or designee) is an Ex Officio, voting member of the Academic Council (Tier 3: 0 - 20 hours/year) and the Honorary Degrees and Distinguished Service Awards Committee (Tier 3: 0 - 20 hours/year)
- For committee members: 20 - 40 hours/year (Tier 2)
