Section I

1.1 WHEREAS ORS 352.010 obliges the Professors and the President to collaboratively govern the University; and

1.2 WHEREAS the UO Constitution offers a framework for conducting a collaboration that optimizes communication between the UO Senate and the UO President; and

1.3 WHEREAS the Faculty, by unanimously endorsing this Constitution, has indicated that strong candidates for the UO presidency will be those who value regular and open interactions with the Faculty;

Section II

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED that, on behalf of the Senate, the Senate President respectfully request of the UO Board of Trustees that candidates for the presidency of the University of Oregon be given a copy of the University Constitution and be asked to identify what changes they would recommend; and

2.2 BE IT FURTHER MOVED that candidates’ responses be made available to the Members of the Presidential Assist Committee and the Search Input Committee.
