Motion

Section I

1.1 WHEREAS, on November 13, 2013, the University Senate approved the formation of an Administrative Advisory Group on Equity, Inclusion and Diversity that was charged with:

1.1.1  Advising the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, the University Senate, and University about institutional goals and policies bearing on equity, inclusion and diversity for academic personnel, students, staff and UO mission-related partnerships with friends of the university; and

1.1.2 Providing the following reports to Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, the University Senate, and University on an annual basis: (i) Report on the status of equity, inclusion and diversity at the University of Oregon; (ii) Climate report on working conditions, salaries, promotions for different groups on campus; and

1.1.3 Undertaking studies of policies and practices affecting equity, inclusion and diversity; and working with the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion to make recommendations to appropriate campus bodies and units.

1.2 WHEREAS, on November 13, 2013, the University Senate approved the membership of the Administrative Advisory Group on Equity, Inclusion and Diversity, specifying that it will include membership from diverse university constituents, units, schools, and colleges, and that membership will be established in consultation with the Senate Executive Committee, and approved by the University Senate;

Section II

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED THAT the University Senate approves the following membership slate, which has been proposed by the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion:

2.1.1     John Ahlen, Administrative Program Specialist (International Affairs);

2.1.2     Stephanie Dresie Chaney, Office Manager (Academic Advising);

2.1.3     Karen Creighton, Adjunct Instructor (Physical Education & Recreation);

2.1.4     Nathan Georgitis, Digital Collections Librarian;

2.1.5     Rebecca Lynn, Office Administrator (Accessible Education Center);

2.1.6     Debra Merskin, Associate Professor (Journalism);

2.1.7     Ann Miller, Associate Librarian & Head, Collection Services;

2.1.8     Deborah Olson, Assistant Professor (Education);

2.1.9     Jennifer O’Neal, Assistant Librarian & University Historian and Archivist;

2.1.10   Kelly Reynolds, Assistant Librarian (Law Reference Librarian);

2.1.11   Theodora Ko Thompson, Admissions Office;

2.1.12   Naomi Zack, Professor (Philosophy);

2.2 AND BE IT HEREBY MOVED THAT the University Senate approves the following ex officio members:

2.2.1     Daniel HoSang, Associate Vice President for Equity and Inclusion;

2.2.2     Yvette Alex-Assensoh, Vice President for Equity and Inclusion.
