Section I

1.1 WHEREAS, the transition to a new Board of Trustees for the University under the law popularly known as Senate Bill 270 of 2013 removed the State Board of Higher Education as a future source of policies for the University of Oregon; and

1.2 WHEREAS, a number of policy directives issued by the State Board of Higher Education in the past (known as “Internal Management Directives”) involve academic matters as commonly understood in higher education and need to be reviewed (including several found at http://ous.edu/files/about/polipro/files/IMD_2013-01.pdf); and

1.3 WHEREAS various unnumbered State Board of Higher Education need to be reviewed; and

1.4 WHEREAS, linkages and comments are provided on the Senate’s “Master List” of rules and policies, including unique, easy-to-track identifying numbers (see Policies of Senate Interest Excel workbook),

Section II

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED that the Senate President appoint a Senate Workgroup on Curriculum and Program Matters, including Senators and members of constituencies as well as members of the University Administration (Ron Bramhall or designee), to review Policies 625-627 and 630-632 (IMDs 2.001, 2.01, 2.015, 2.03, 2.035, 2.04)(“Curriculum Tab”) and any others relevant to Curriculum and Program Matters, and to recommend changes as appropriate.

2.2 BE IT FURTHER MOVED that the same Senate Workgroup review various unnumbered Board policies (Policies 493-514 and 518-519) (“Curriculum Tab”) and recommend changes as appropriate.
