Section I

1.1 WHEREAS, it is important for the University to be able to confer posthumous degrees in a timely fashion and in such a manner that is not onerous to a grieving parent or family member, while at the same time guaranteeing the academic integrity of the process; and

1.2 WHEREAS, the policy as currently written is encumbered with procedural details that are of little use to the family members of the deceased and institutional policy users; and

1.3 WHEREAS, the proposed revisions have been reviewed by Academic Affairs, Student Life, the University Registrar, General Counsel, and the Academic Council;

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED that the revised policy on the Conferral of Posthumous Degrees be approved.
