1.1 WHEREAS the Graduate Council is charged by the University Senate to "advise the Dean of the Graduate School on matters pertaining to graduate study at the University of Oregon;" and

1.2 WHEREAS the Graduate Council has responsibility for "providing for the maintenance of high standards of graduate instruction;" and

1.3 WHEREAS  the Graduate Council and the Graduate School have fully reviewed and endorsed the proposal for a new Ph.D. in Spanish and recommend that the Provost forward it to the University of Oregon Board of Trustees, the statewide Provost’s Council, and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission for approval:

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED, on the recommendation of the Graduate School, the new doctoral degree in Spanish is approved (please see Related Documents section for proposal details).
