Motion

Section I

1.1 WHEREAS the Undergraduate Council is charged by the University Senate with the responsibility of "reviewing, evaluating and enhancing the quality of the University's academic program;" and

1.2 WHEREAS the Undergraduate Council has the responsibility to "monitor, help shape, and approve new undergraduate programs (majors, minors, certificates) and changes to existing programs;" and

1.3 WHEREAS the Undergraduate Council has fully reviewed and endorsed the proposal for a new Bachelor's degree in Native American & Indigenous Studies and recommend that the Provost forward it to the University of Oregon Board of Trustees, the statewide Provosts' Council, Higher Education Coordinating Commission, and the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities for approval;

Section II

2.1 BE IT HEREBY MOVED, on the recommendation of the Undergraduate Council, the new Bachelor's degree in Native American & Indigenous Studies is approved (please see related documents for program specifics).
