Section I

1.1  WHEREAS the essential values of Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech are bedrock principles of the University of Oregon; and

1.2 WHEREAS it is crucial that these values are clearly articulated in University policy; and 

1.3  WHEREAS the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities provided the UO with feedback as a part of their review of Standard 2.B.1 that our policies required review as part of our accreditation process;

Section II

2.1 THEREFORE BE IT MOVED that the University Senate approves the updates to the Academic Freedom and Free Speech policy as outlined in the related document.
