Section I 

1.1  WHEREAS the Distinguished Teaching Awards (DTA) Committee has had difficulty filling all its positions due to overly proscriptive membership criteria; and 

1.2  WHEREAS both the Office of the Provost and the Committee on Committees agree that it would facilitate the work of the committee to loosen the restrictions on membership to include past winners of the DTA who are not members of the Senate; and to have a committee large enough to include a diversity of disciplinary and school/college viewpoints;  

1.3  WHEREAS there are some small house-keeping changes necessary to update membership requirements and other details of the original committee structure; 

Section II 

2.1 BE IT THEREFORE MOVED that the University Senate approves changes to the Distinguished Teaching Awards Committee as detailed in the revised 17 point chart (please see related documents section for specifics).
