Faculty Research Awards Committee

Our Charge and Responsibilities

The Faculty Research Awards Committee (FRAC) shall be responsible for evaluating applications for the Faculty Research Awards, funded and administered through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, and for determining awardees. The committee shall consider and approve any changes to award definition, eligibility, procedures, and review criteria. The committee shall meet at least twice per year: in early Fall term, to elect a chair, ensure full membership and review the Faculty Research Awards program; and in early Winter term to evaluate grant proposals and determine awardees.

Leadership Structure

  • Chair: elected from the committee membership
  • Convener: Senior Assistant Vice President for Research, or their designee
  • Staff: provided by the Office of Research, Innovation and Graduate Education

Election Schedule for Chair: annually at the first meeting of Fall term.

Membership is fixed:

  • 8 - 10 research-active faculty, broadly represented

Ex-Officio, voting members

 

Ex-Officio, non-voting members

  • Representative from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation

Workload Designation

  • For the Chair: 35 - 45 hours/year (Tier 2)
  • For Committee Members: 25 - 35 hours/year (Tier 2)
